today, marks the 100th day of Ozzy's life! known to koreans as "baek il" which literally means 100th day, it marks the end of a full year of life (from conception) and if the baby survived the first 100 days it was celebrated with prayers and rice cakes and hopes that the baby continues to thrive and live a long healthy life. there's all this traditional stuff that families do, but i dont know anyone that really does that stuff, so i didnt bother to do any of it with mimi and i have not really planned to do it for ozzy either. things involving prayers and giving out rice cakes to 100 people who in turn give back gifts of thread (wish for long life for the baby) and food/money (symbols of prosperity). then the next big event is the first birthday, for if the baby survived the first year of life, his survival was assured and so it deserved a big blowout bash. there's tons of food, rice cakes, gifts of money, and the baby wears the traditional clothing of kings (called 'hanbok'). rob's mom says she still has rob's old hanbok that ozzy can wear. it's 9 months away from now, but it's never far from my mind. we'll have to start setting aside money for the event and book a hall/venue in the coming months.
--------------------------in other news...just realized my engagement ring is not with the rest of my rings. looked everywhere and still havent been able to find it. i'm trying not to freak out.
