mimi has thus far completed 3 sessions of korean school. i have been working with her at home on forming letters and learning some words and songs. one song teaches the kids appropriate things to say in certain situations. mimi understands very little of what the song means, even though i explain it to her hundreds of times, ad nauseum. the song has a refrain that goes like this: what should you say when... and this is what you say:... so the song tells you what you should say
1. to your father when he leaves for work- have a good day at work
2. when someone offers you delicious food, - i'll enjoy this meal
3. to your parents when waking in the morning, - did you sleep well
4. when greeting your teacher at school- hello, teacher!
today i heard mimi singing the song and since she doesnt understand much of the song but is learning bits and pieces, she sings it so jumbled up that it makes me laugh. she sings in korean, "what should you say when your teacher wakes up in the morning? this is what you say, i'll enjoy this meal."
