ozzy loves to issue commands at me.  when it's time for his milk, he likes to take it in his sippy bottle and lay on the couch and cuddle with me, so he'll say, "mama, way down ozzy!" (mama, lay down with ozzy!) between moments thru out the day, i'll sit down in front of my computer to check email.  ozzy wants me to play with him instead and will come over, stand in front of me and demand, "mama!  get down!" meaning for me to get off the seat and come play with him. when he wants to go to the playground to play he says, "mama!  go pwaygwound!  ready, mama?"  when he's watching his dvds and it ends and the credits start to roll, "Pwess button, mama!  pwess button!"

revisting eggs

my kids ate scrambled eggs for breakfast for a short while but now they wont eat it.  not even one bite.  mimi will eat the spinach bacon souffles at panera though, and last time we went ozzy devoured one too.  so i made some at home this morning and both kids plowed thru them without breathing. Ingredients: 3 tablespoons frozen spinach, thawed 3 tablespoons bacon (or minced artichoke hearts for a meat free version) 2 teaspoons minced onion 1 teaspoon minced red bell pepper 5 eggs 2 tablespoons milk 2 tablespoons heavy cream (it still good w/o the cream, just double the milk) ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese ¼ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese 1 tablespoon shredded Parmesan cheese ¼ teaspoon salt 1 8-ounce tube Pillsbury Crescent butter flake dough melted butter ¼ cup shredded Asiago cheese Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Combine spinach, (artichoke hearts, if using), onion, and red bell pepper in a small bowl. ...

we are at 21 months...in three more months we will be TWO

i say this every time, i can't believe ozzy is going to be two this year.  it's just a few months away.  he'll be in preschool this fall.  i know i sound like a broken record, but i just can't comprehend how this can be happening so fast!  now he is 21 months old.  such a big boy.  and yet, to me, he's still my baby.  i remind myself to really look at him whenever i have a chance to cuddle him or change him.  to see every bit of him so i dont forget it.  i take in every delectable bit of baby fat and try to remember every line and curve on him.  i know it will start to fade next year.  when he sleeps i stare at the round fullness of the chub of his cherubic cheeks and like any mom looking at her sleeping child, i cant help but mentally sing, 'he is perfection."  today, he told me he was going to poop in the potty.  he drags out the insert from his bjorn potty seat and plops himself down (still wearing a diaper), sits for...

Mimi Rides

rob took mimi out one day to teach her to ride without training wheels.  she was able to do it on her own in just five minutes!  honestly, i think all the steering work she did on her scooter over the past several months must have helped her figure out how to steer her bike.  she's been practicing trying to stay on her scooter as long possible without putting her feet on the ground.  so if you count the scooter, she's actually been on a two wheeler since christmas. when rob brought home this video, i sat and watched it after he left for work and seriously, i started crying.  it was such a big girl moment...no training wheels?  all the ways she becomes that much more independent makes me cry.  she might as well be leaving for college...that's how it feels every time she she's done with needing any help or support.  no more bottles, no more diapers, no more training wheels...on one hand i am glad they're done and on the other hand, so sad that...

Easter with the Kim Grandparents

this was probably one of the most exhausting spring breaks i've ever had.  i agreed to do a cake without realizing it was going to be over spring break and that it would interfere with my plans to the kids to my parents house in hampton for the week. after assessing the situation, i thought i'd drive down to hampton on monday and return wednesday, bringing my mom back w/me to help me with house/kids/meals while i worked on the cake, and then driving back to hampton on saturday after the cake was done and returning sunday evening.  but then allergies and exhaustion from working so many late nights on the cake finally took its toll on me and i woke up monday morning unable to stand up straight, the room spinning.  worried about trying to drive in this condition, and wierdly enough, maybe my subconscious self knew i was worried about driving like this because i woke up that morning to an awful dream where i fall asleep while driving and crash the car, glass flying everywhe...
