Ozzy is 2y 10mos

last night, ozzy slept thru the night w/o waking up once.  i actually slept in my own bed, all thru the night.  of course he did get up at 6 am, hollering "MOM!"  and came into my room and snuggled down w/me then, but i dont mind that so much...at least i got in some solid sleep before he woke me!  he's trying to spell words now.

Where's Chella?

we've been slowly adding new fish to the tank (as a couple of the original fish died).  the first was a Chinese Algae Eater which mimi decided to name Chella (pronounced /Keh lah/) and then a few weeks later a blue Siamese Fighting Fish which she named Sky.  chella is the most fun though.  as is typical of this type of fish, she prefers to find little caves to hide.  the kids like to check the tank every day for a game of Where's Chella?  and the days when she decides to reveal herself brings on a great deal of excitement.  who wudda thunk.

please please please do not go...

it's heartbreaking putting little man to bed these days...he finds just the right words to affect me.  he's very attached to me and wants me to stay with him all the time these days, most especially at night when it's bedtime.  so when it's time for lights out, he's crying, trying to cling to me, and begging for me to stay.  i find myself having a harder time leaving ozzy than i did mimi.  maybe it's because mimi would give up the fight a lot sooner, whereas ozzy will go on and on until i can actually feel myself teetering on the edge of giving in.  i guess the lesson here is that if you persist long enough, you can get what you want.  come to think of it, i think it's how i got DH to propose to me. ;) after washing up, playing with trains, singing songs, and reading books, it's time for lights out.  well, putting ozzy to bed, goes something like this: okay ozzy, time to sleep. no, mommy, stay with me! (thru sobbing tears)  i dont want you ...

Ozzy's Favorite Knock Knock Joke

Dear Toothfairy, What do you do with our teeth?

another tooth fell out yesterday (a canine).  this time instead of asking me point blank if i'm the one leaving the money under her pillow for her, mimi decided to write a letter to the tooth fairy instead.  i thought about writing a response back, but after thinking about it, i figured the magic was in the elusiveness...once you know how it all works, the magic is gone, right?  so i didnt leave a response.  was that wrong?  not sure what i would have said anyway.  internet searches revealed that the teeth were used to build the tooth fairy's castle or they are ground up to be made into fairy dust or they became stars in the sky or they were kept to be given to babies who needed teeth.  all the responses seemed kind of creepy to me...  but in the end, i guess it's no creepier than mommy keeping her baby teeth and umbilical cord stump.  heh heh. of course, that was the evening that neither rob nor i had anything smaller than a $20 in the hous...
