The Im Family

while leaving the checkout at Safeway at PanAm shopping center, ozzy catches sight of a train movie "The Little Engine That Could" and begged, please, please, please, can i have it?  it was on sale for $9 and i had a lot to do this day...$9 for a 90 min babysitter is a bargain.  so i took it to the checkout, the guys chatted with ozzy about trains and there was a moment of quiet confusion btwn the two guys behind the counter, a few presses on some keys, and the purchase went thru.  ozzy held the dvd out the store, saying, "I think i can!  I think i can!  mommy, where's the funny clown from the book?"  i put him in the car and he's still holding the dvd and wants to open it while i drive home. i get home, unload the groceries, and ozzy says, "mommy, this movie has scary people in it." "what?  it does?!?  lemme see it."  thinking to myself, i shouldnt just trust the title and preschool images on the cover and should have checked to make...

so today i was loving a peaceful dinner where mimi was getting ozzy to eat his green beans and chicken by pretending they were trains going into the tunnel.  after they cleared their plates, they ran from the table to go play and while in their workroom, ozzy pushed a kid's couch on mimi's hand, but he was immediately sorry and ran to fetch her an ice pack from the freezer and gave her a hug, then turned to me and said, "mommy, can you not be scary to little people?" (yep, that's me...scary mommy, scaring the little people)
