Sept 08: ozzy is 2 months old. am trying to get him more scheduled and instead of feeding whenever he fusses am moving towards feeding every 2 hours. today, he fussed but he held out for the feedings at the appropriate two hour marks. i could tell he was hungry though. avg. midday breastmilk yield is about 2 oz...times 12 means he is getting approx 24 oz a day. i would love to get him to a point where he is feeding every 3 hours instead.
napping: he is falling asleep around 8 ish and sleeping for a good 7 hours. last night he slept 6 hours though. then he wakes for a feed and sleeps, waking up two hours later. then feeds and sleeps, waking up another two hours later. and then begins a feeding schedule that runs every hour to an hour and a half! ugh! some napping, but short little cat naps here and there.
tonight i b/f him, then offered him a bottle of formula...he took a few swallows...barely took in an ounce before turning away. he's mainly b/f these days. will have to stop buying formula since we can't use it all up before it goes bad at this rate. i dont want to give it up entirely though b/c i'll need some when he has his next growth spurt. i laid him down around 8:30. he pushed up and looked around, then lay his head down and sucked on his fist for a while, drooling everywhere. i pushed a pacy in his mouth and he settled down, still awake for a bit. probably fell asleep closer to 9 pm tonight. i hope this means he will sleep until 4 am. that would be lovely.
progress: he continues to coo and babble, smiles a lot esp. first thing in the morning when he really wakes up and sees my face. wearing size 1/2 diapers. wets about 8 diapers and poops about 2-3 times. the poops are pretty runny, but that's supposed to be normal for b/f babies. he's got some kind of trajectory on his bum though b/c 3 out of 5 times, he manages to shoot it up and out the back of his diaper and all up his back necessitating a bath.
baths: he loves the bath...he hates the aftermath when i've dried him off and am trying to put lotion on him.
