mimi continues to insist that she has a baby in her tummy. the baby is due in july. it is a girl baby because mimi is a little girl and little girls have girl babies and boys have boy babies.
i went to see my OB for my monthy prenatal checkup. mimi came with me and kept asking me if the doctor would check her baby. i told her no, this doctor only checks mommies. mimi kept asking me where the doctors are that check babies in little kids tummies (never mind that little kids dont have babies in their tummies).
when the doc checked the baby's heartbeat, which sounds like a galloping horse, mimi's interest was piqued and she asked, "what's that sound!" and doc said it was the baby. mimi looks confused at first, then gets all round-eyed and says, "Is the baby running in your tummy, mama?"
---------------------
after soccer today, mimi told me she wanted to have pho noodle soup for lunch. so on our way to pick some up, she says, mama are the noodles big? i told her they are long and skinny. she says, you're skinny, mama. oh, thank you, mimi! i say, feeling so pleased that she thought i was thin. then she says, "i'm skinny, too, mama!" and i say, no you're still very chubby! and mimi goes, "no, mama, we're both skinny because we have skin. skinny means you have skin."
i should have known this is where it was going.
