had another ultrasound a week ago to try to get an idea of how big baby boy will be when he's full term. as of 36 weeks, they said his head and abdomen were measuring at 38 weeks (head) and 38.5 weeks (abdomen). they had to get repeat measurements for his leg bone b/c it was measuring at 32-34 weeks, but they said it was still w/in the realms of a normal length, albeit on the very short side. so i imagine that baby boy is built a bit like an Oompa Loompa.
one rather cool thing about getting the ultrasound this late in the pregnancy is that i can see the soft facial tissues...in the 20 week ultrasound, the face often looked mostly skeletal, unless you could get a good profile shot. here, though, i was able to see his little face, see him yawning. the ultrasound tech got this shot of his nostrils and open mouth...you can see some of chubby cheeks and chin as well. he looks like a real fatty! the image was rather hard to make out... at this stage the ultrasound isnt as clear as when the baby is in the earlier months.
