since i took the time to write this out on Facebook, i thought i'd just go ahead and publish it here for posterity. it'll be interesting to look back on this one day. i think i should also think about doing a 25 random things about mimi one day too. i'll have to sit with her and interview her. i'm sure her thoughts will be entertaining.

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you can choose to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
(To do this, go to the Notes tab on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app), and then click Publish.)
1. my favorite 'getaway' was our brief time in venice, italy (part of our italy honeymoon). i realized that day, as i was served my morning coffee and breakfast on the terrace overlooking the extensive gardens at the grand hotel dei dogi, that i was born to be an heiress, but clearly must have been switched at birth.
2. my favorite part of motherhood and of teaching is seeing the world through the eyes of a child...the wonderment of new experiences and Ah-ha! moments of dawning understanding...those things that we lose the pleasure of knowing as we become older, jaded, and cynical.
3. am happiest when i'm surrounded by all the people that i love: my husband, children, sisters, parents, cousins, my rottie, good friends.
4. LOVE online shopping...this could have been extremely dangerous back in the day when i was barely surviving on my teacher's salary...thank goodness catalog shopping was not as easy! my husband currently works hard to maintain my online shopping addiction. i admit it: i am an Amazon-aholic and a Gymoboree Junkie.
5. i approach shopping for my children's clothes like it's my job and i'm striving for a promotion. if i got paid for the hours i put into clothing my kids, i'd be pulling some serious overtime pay. which brings me to another thought, how awesome would that be if i COULD get paid to shop? hello? i think i found my calling.
6. i love to make things...anyone that knows me, knows this already. i love the whole creative process. this is also why i'm addicted to shows like Cake Challenge, Design Star, and Project Runway and pretty much all of HGTV.
7. i hate to clean and organize, but i love a clean and organized home. just wish i didnt have to do it myself. (linh, i may have to move to Singapore...you got it good!) refer back to #1 and the point about being an heiress. it's innate.
8. motherhood has taught me a lot more about the frequency and consistency of poop than i ever wanted to know.
9. i'm comfortable with the fact that i no longer weigh 95 lbs, but i refuse to get comfortable with my current weight. i know i need to get healthy and less sedentary...to live a healthier life and lead by example to benefit my children.
10. used to love to read fiction, but these days find myself reading mostly non-fiction. the last Harry Potter book was the last fiction book i read...and i read that as slowly as i could to prolong the moment. i was very sad when that relationship w/HP was over and realized i needed a moment to mourn.
11. i fell in love with my husband's easy going nature, sense of humor, and caring for others. i am honored to be amongst the few that he cares so deeply for and i love him with all my heart.
12. i had to have 2 c-sections because neither of my children wanted to come out. i carried mimi almost 42 weeks and ozzy for 41 weeks. i was NOT one of those women who enjoyed pregnancy...pregnancy SUCKS ASS.
13. i am probably one of the most UNathletic persons on this planet, but i have gone white water rafting, fencing and rock climbing.
14. i've only been on skis once in my life and it was a baaad experience.
15. i almost drowned when i was three. i got knocked down by a wave and sucked under while at virginia beach. my dad luckily was close by and saved me, but not until i had swallowed a great deal of water and learned to be terrified of drowning.
16. house centipedes give me nightmares. i am afraid of anything with more than 6 legs. that includes spiders and millipedes.
17. worms freak me out...annelids, nematodes, larvae.... i saw The Fly for the first time a few months ago (i was deprived of movies/tv as a kid), and when i saw sigorney weaver give birth to a giant maggot, i almost lost my lunch and the will to live. if i could go back in time, i would go back to that moment with SPOILER alerts flashing, and warn myself about witnessing that scene...that was not something that was easy to forget.
18. am addicted to sugar.
19. has never had pretty fingernails...some how my older sister was the only one who got the good nails gene.
20. has never been comfortable with accepting compliments about myself, but love to hear compliments about my children.
21. idea of a relaxing day would be to have a whole 24 hours to myself...no kids, no meals to prep, nothing to do but sit with a cup of coffee, surrounded only by silence, and read until my eyes glaze over, then have the luxury to just sleep if i feel like it.
22. misses sitting by a wood burning fireplace with a great big cracklin' fire. gas fireplaces are pathetic.
23. am always conscious of my health because i'm afraid i will one day come down with some kind of debilitating condition and i want to be able to diagnose it early so i can get early intervention. feeling headachy, fatigued and dizzy? could be low blood sugar, BUT what if it's lymphoma?!?!
24. hate to handle raw meat. i am certain there's ecoli, salmonella, trichinosis, etc, in every bit of that wet stuff that comes off of raw meat.
25. i worry. i worry a lot. i worry about the UV rays from the sun. i worry that we dont get enough sun exposure for healthful vitamin D production. i worry about BPA and pthalates and other plasticizers. i worry about disease carrying mosquitoes. i worry about the future of my children. i worry about how my cells are faring. i worry about what's probably growing around my garbage disposal that i can't see. i am a worrier.

I love your list Sang! I identify with so much of it. You are such a great and funny writer (sorry #20, you're going to have to accept it!) You would be great at writing magazine articles or whatever you wanted.
lol. thanks, ardra. i am going to save this list and read it again in 10 years to see how much i've changed, if any. or so mimi can have an "OMG! my mom's a freak" moment.
i agree- this is a great list!!! by the way- i need to go to on-line shoppers anonymous too! amazon's next day shopping is ridiculously wonderful- zappos too;-)
YES! i LOVE when i can get almost immediate gratification!
you always know how to write in ways that make it funny and enjoyable to read. i love your #1... you were definitely meant to be an heiress!
#1- Remember in Mr. Marings English class we had to write our autobiography and part of it was finding out our geneology? I hated this part b/c no damn encyclopedia or book in the library is going to have the definition for my last name. So I ended making the shit up saying that I am a decendant of royalty, from the Tran dynasty. We're all long lost heiresses. I swear I would feel the pea under my mattress!
#8- frequency, consistency, and SMELL - do you put your nose to your baby's arse? go on, admit it.
#11- reading that *almost* made me cry. Almost.
#14- get with the times, try snowboarding!
Psssstt, Rob, re-read #21 - her next b-day present perhaps?

#1 yes, this is true...i do believe our family descended from Kings.
#8 of course, the smell is important! i put my nose to their diapered derriere's and inhale deeply. mom's are connoisseurs of poop bouquets. mimi's baby poops were reminiscent of popcorn with butter overtones. ozzy's are bready with upbeat citrus notes.
