things are getting better! last night ozzy slept for 6 hours straight! not sure if he is just sleeping longer b/c of maturity or if it was getting tanked up with breastmilk and then an additional 2 oz shot of formula, plus the white noise rob set up (a loud air purifier) nearby his sleeping area. whatever the reason, he slept without a sound from 10 til 4 am. woke to breastfeed at 4, put him back to sleep just before 5 am, and then some time in the morning (8?) he woke again. we were co-sleeping at that point so i just rolled him over and let him feed while i continued to sleep. i think he kept falling asleep too b/c he'd start fussing because he needed help latching back on periodically.
after several attempts at it, i finally got up from bed at 8:30 and just brought him downstairs for a more focused breastfeeding. he went down for a short nap at 9, was up by 10. i just fed him again, but only one side before he fell asleep yet again. he's been asleep for an hour now and is just about to wake up, so i made lunch for mimi and me in the meantime.
i pumped a couple of nights ago at midnight and i am now producing 2 oz (this after waiting at least 3 hours, and pumping for 20 minutes. if i wait an hour and pump again, it is only 1 oz.)
mimi is doing well with ozzy. she doesnt seem jealous at all. she loves every opportunity to hold him. today she wanted to change his diaper, so we did that together. she loves to spend tummy time with him on the floor. yesterday when he was fussing after a nap, mimi yells out to me, Mom! baby is crying! you better give him milk!
ozzy can hold his head up for about a minute. he is tracking objects with his eyes. and he's making Ohs and Ahs with his mouth. he can usually find and suck his thumb/hands when he's rooting (something mimi never seemed to be able to do at this age. i hope he doesnt become a thumb sucker. ) i believe he must be 10 lbs now. and several times i have seen him smile, but i dont think it is a true social smile just yet... his eyes go half closed, a wide smile spreads across his face. and then usually a few seconds later it is followed by a toot or the sound of baby stool bubbling out. (i dont understand that connection with smiling and gas! guess it must feel good!)
