ozzy's obsession with trains continues to grow. he loves his trains and plays with them every day. when we leave the house, he tells me he wants to "take Gordon" or "take Emamee (emily)" or some other such train. he demands to watch a train dvd every day. and when it's on he's yelling, "yay! thomas! yay! percy!" he gets mad at me when i get the names of the trains wrong, scolding, "That not Percy! That DUCK!"
it amazes me that he can distinguish them from one another. they look so similar to me. for example, he could tell you the names of each of these trains pictured...i'd get them all mixed up. his capacity for learning so many names dumbfounds me. it's not a skill i've ever been good at. to this day, i have trouble remembering names of people, places, and things!
he loves to make train sounds as he plays with his trains (chuff! chuff! chuff! hooo hooo!). i love listening to his thoughts as he plays with his trains. sometimes he forces a train off the track and tells me that the train-what's-his-face fell off the track and is sad. or the other day, he peers into one of the tiny windows of a toy train, and says, "mama! conductor in there! conductor! look! tickets, please!" it's all quite amusing.
as far as potty training goes this month, there's been some back tracking, which is expected. he has not pooped in the potty again since that first time with rob. he's lately been very insistent about having his diaper on instead of using the potty. today, i tried to get him to pee in the potty and he kept grunting and pushing, and then he backs away and says, "not working. poo poo diaper. pleeeeease!" he ended up with diarrhea. not sure if that was why he couldn't potty?
ozzy knows almost all of the sounds of the alphabet now. i think he's a little confused about the C and K both making the same sounds. i'm concerned about how he makes the L sound. he says "Ow" instead of "luh" i know the L sound is notoriously difficult for young kids and many dont master the sound until they are 4 years old, but i dont want him to keep saying "ow"! so that's one i need to practice w/him until his speech develops enough for him to say it correctly.
ozzy is trying to count things, but he still doesnt have one to one match and will just jab his finger in the general direction of the group of objects as he counts, trying to emulate the way i count with him, but not really pointing at anything, and then announce some random number to tell me how many of something he sees.
really increasing his use of the possessive: grandpa's paper, grandma's chair, mimi's book, ozzy's train, mama's coffee, etc.
he's starting to get good at taking off his pants if they are somewhat loose fitting. this i discovered one day while playing outside, every time i'd look away and then back at ozzy again, i'd find him running around without his pants on. scold him about keeping his pants on outside, put them back on, only to turn around a few minutes later to see his bare ass shining in the sun, again.
