finally, 3 and a half years later, i get started decorating ozzy's room. glad we waited until we really knew what ozzy liked before doing this. mimi's room is a mishmosh of all things girly with no real "theme." if i were pressed for a theme: flowers and butterflies?
ozzy's train obsession (it can not be called anything less than an obsession) made it an easy job of figuring what to do. years ago, before he was even born, i bought the red quilt with white stars, thinking he was gonna be a fourth of july baby and planning to do red, white, blue theme originally. but he was born much later, july 15th, so i halfheartedly added to the stars theme with some star finials, and glow in the dark stars on the ceiling. and that's where i stopped.
after years of looking at the paint and wood i bought to paint the room and slowly hatching some ideas to display his train, at the start of the new year, rob and i began setting up ozzy's big boy room.
we still have a few small touches to do, but for the most part i think we can live with it (even tho the wood finishes on the furniture do not match).

train wall mural from PBK. vehicles on the floor need a new home. still trying to figure out where to display those. these are all vehicles from various places we've visited.
pics on the wall are b&w of train fronts, one diesel and one steam. and his collection of toy story characters on the dresser. the Lionel Electric trains sign was Ozzy's choice for his room!
train paintings were created by Mimi when she was in Kindergarten. she painted them for Ozzy's 2nd birthday. The Polar Express train is displayed up high b/c it's too expensive to leave out! i take it down when ozzy requests it, but when there's no other kids around! the larger G scale trains are displayed on the lower shelves. The quote on the wall is from the Polar Express movie (i dont think it's in the book)
buckets on the wall to store some of his smaller toy sets. "watch your step" sign is a recreation of the signs that used to be placed on the Pullman sleep coaches. these warnings were posted so passengers didnt accidentally get their foot caught in the spaces between the cars.
on the wall is a no spitting on the platform sign. these were put up at stations during plague outbreaks.

under the windows are some display cases i made to hold ozzy's small die cast Thomas trains. there's also a growth chart on the right that i made with a wooden board to look like giant ruler. you can't see the words on the side but it says "Osten Jaesoon Since 2008" opposite the numbers.
