i gave ozzy some cheerios today (he is not quite 7 mos just yet). i tried to give him one a couple of weeks ago and he didnt know what to do with it and he just held it in his mouth, lightly gumming it, drooling heavily. so i didnt give him anymore. but today, i was leafing through my notes from when mimi was a baby and saw that she was eating cheerios by 6 mos. so i tried it again with ozzy. he was doing great picking them up and getting them in his mouth. he has amazing control over his hands, far better than mimi had at that age. at first he seemed to be doing fine and he really seemed to enjoy eating them. and since he was doing fine with it, i thought i'd squeeze in a dose of Trivisol (vitamins). so i squirted some into his mouth and that's when he started to gag. and gag. and vomit. and gag. and cough. i should have known that my little spitter was also a gagger.
i am pretty sure it was me, that i sabotaged his efforts with that squirt of trivisol. i didnt want to end on a bad note, so after he managed to clear his throat, i gave him one final Cheerio and he happily gummed it and was fine.

i don't blame ozzy for gagging! that trivisol stuff smells nasty! i am tempted to skip it altogether with joce since kayla gagged and cried so much when we gave it to her. glad to hear ozzy's doing well with the finger foods! :-)
